Curriculum Vitae

Born on August 29, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland, I grew up in rural Maryland and enjoyed a combination of small town and country lifestyles. I completed undergraduate courses at Frederick Community College in Maryland, Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana and, additional classes at Monroe Community College in Michigan.

I have had a diverse employment history that began in the mid 1970s and included job descriptions of: Power Plant Operator at a coal burning facility with Potomac Electric Power Company, Division Manager for Laminar Flow Technology with Health Physics Services, Inc., Operations Manager at Neutron Products, Inc. (a manufacturer of radioactive Cobalt-60 sources), Senior Health Physics Technician under contract to various nuclear power plants during refueling and maintenance outages including Dresden, Connecticut Yankee, Hatch, Rancho Seco, San Onofre, Pilgrim, Vermont Yankee, McGuire, and on the accident recovery at Three Mile Island. I then contracted to Detroit Edison at Fermi II nuclear station as the Respiratory Protection Program Supervisor to develop and implement that program for their startup.

After which, I began consulting as Director of Respirator Programs with Darell Bevis Associates in Chantilly, Virginia and for Radiation Safety Associates in Hebron, Connecticut through the end of the 1980s. In August of 1989 I began my own consulting firm called Respirator Support Services offering training, technical services and consulting on a nationwide basis to all users of occupational respiratory protection with a heavy emphasis on regulatory compliance and realistic and effective respirator programs.

Continuing education was always a priority during my safety career, as well as active involvement in related professional societies. I wrote and published a leading newsletter for the industry, Respiratory Protection Update on a quarterly basis for twelve years. Service on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Respiratory Protection, active membership in the American Industrial Hygiene Association, service on the American National Standards Institute standard Z88.2, Practices for Respirator Protection and, chairman of yet another consensus document, ANSI Z88.10, Respirator Fit Test Methods rounded out this career.

Through over thirty years of marriage, raising a wonderful daughter and seeing her through college, and constantly traveling throughout the United States for more than three decades on business and for pleasure, it was time for a change. Relocation to a friendlier climate, downsizing, staying in one place, and taking the first steps toward a gradual retirement in the next fifteen years became the game plan. Having grown to love the Southwest over the years, the decision was easy. Tucson, Arizona was at the top of the list for the place to start.

Upon moving to Tucson at the turn of the century and, after a short rest for a few months and a lot of soul searching, I began a new career as a licensed REALTOR® with Long Realty Company. A desire to continue to help other people, in another important way, was a big part of the motivation for that decision. After a first year struggle with all of the changes in lifestyle and workplace that I experienced, the next four years I established a modest level of success by qualifying for Long's President Club every year from 2002 through 2005.  In 2003 - as soon as I was eligible by law - I obtained my Broker's license and became an Associate Broker with Long.  I also served as the Contract Administrator for their Northwest Branch.

Current professional accomplishments include active status as an Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR), an Accredited Sellers Representative (ASR), a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), e-PRO certification, a Graduate of the Realtor® Institute (GRI), and a Master of Real Estate (MRE).  I also serve on their Risk Reduction Committee and the Education Committee.  I am past Chairman of the Marana Mayor & Council's Business Advisory Committee, and am past president of the Monterey Pointe Homeowners Association in Tucson National, where I reside. And, naturally, along with the status of REALTOR®, I am a member of the National, State and, Tucson Association of REALTORS® (TAR).  In April, 2007 I was elected to serve on the TAR Board of Directors for a two year term beginning January 1, 2008.

In 2006 I decided to take action on a widespread problem that I recognized with the real estate business.  Somebody needed to raise the bar on the qualifications necessary to be a practitioner in this business.  Unfortunately, the real estate industry seems unwilling or unable to better qualify the people they issue a license to.  There doesn’t seem to be anyway to change that fact in the near future.  And, the real estate companies seemed to rely on the volume of business created by the constant turnover of new agents.  No substantive effort was being made to really improve the capabilities of new licensees.

So, I formed my own brokerage called BROKERS ONLY REALTYto address the problem.  This business model is fairly simple.  Only licensed brokers with at least one significant professional designation can be affiliated with Brokers Only.  And each Associate Broker is hand picked after a careful screening of their history of practice and their degree of dedication to their continuing education and skills.  These select few enjoy a new level of professionalism in the way the business operates and also benefit from an unrivaled compensation plan.

The public is ensured that any agent they decide to work with from Brokers Only Realtyis exceptionally qualified to protect their interests in a real estate transaction.  As the owner and Designated Broker of this new company, I pledge to be constantly diligent in monitoring the level of service that our agents provide and I will always be responsive to any consumer dissatisfaction.

Personally, I pledge to be everything to my agents that a good broker should be.  I work full-time and I am available seven days a week, from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm.  Touchstone Residential Realty will never be the biggest brokerage in town.  I want it to be the best brokerage for the best agents.  An exclusive club - if you will - for real professionals that are just as concerned about the quality of their work as they are about the quantity.
